Bespoke veneers

Veneers are a prosthetic fabrication, used by the cosmetic dentist in most cases on multiple teeth to create a big bright “Hollywood” smile.

Many people have small teeth resulting in spaces that may not be easily closed by orthodontics. Some people have worn away the edges of their teeth resulting in a prematurely aged appearance, while others may have mispositioned tooth/teeth that appear crooked. Multiple veneers can close these spaces, lengthen teeth that have been shortened by wear, fill the black triangles between teeth caused by gum recession, provide a uniform colour, shape, and symmetry, and make the teeth appear straight.

Our veneers process

Preperation

In many cases tooth preparation is not required or is minimal. Once this has been completed, we move on to the next step!

Digital scanning

The clinician will take a digital scan of the teeth and the technician will mock up the desired new “hollywood look”.

APPLICATION

Once you are happy with this look the veneers will be fabricated and the clinicians will bond the veneers to the front faces of the teeth.

Before and after

Composite veneers

A composite veneer may be directly placed/built-up in the mouth – referred to as Composite Veneers, or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using resin cement.

Ceramic Veneers

Our absolute gold standard veneer. The colour lasts the lifetime of the veneer, and they don’t stain or need re-polishing or refinishing either. A long-lasting perfect smile, without the maintenance.

With Ceramic veneers we can achieve of level of aesthetic excellence which cannot be beaten by any other technique. To achieve excellence requires 2/3 appointments

Frequently asked questions

Composite bonded veneers and composite indirect veneers commonly cost £300 to £575 per tooth, while ceramic veneers, also known as porcelain veneers, cost between £850-£1100 per tooth. At Smiles and Smiles we offer excellent treatment in most cases 40% less expensive, while using the very best materials and care provided by specially trained aesthetic / cosmetic dentists, all who have had additional postgraduate training in aesthetics.

Taking the average lifespan of the ceramic veneer to be around 10 years, composite indirect veneers around six plus years and composite bonded veneers (single visit) four to five years. Composite bonded veneers may require remedial “touch up” work over this time.

Veneers are usually not painful whilst you are having the treatment. Some clients have reported slight sensitivity during the settling down period after the final fitting. This is quite normal and nothing to worry about. It usually only lasts for a few days and very soon after subsidies.

The veneers are designed to fit over the front face of your teeth to create a natural and beautiful appearance.

Dental veneers are “bonded” to the front face of the teeth. They can fall off in certain situations, but this is rare if the dentist has done their job correctly!

Veneers can be removed and leave the tooth somewhat intact depending on the skill of the dentist, but there should not be any reason to do this. If the consultation with your dentist was comprehensive and your veneers were high quality and properly fitted to begin with, they shouldn’t need to be removed anytime soon.

If you previously had orthodontic treatment (metal braces or Invisalign clear braces), you will want to have a new set of retainers made after you get the veneers. Dental veneers won’t prevent your teeth from shifting out of place, so you will need to wear the retainers as prescribed by your dentist or orthodontist and if you have a removable retainer a new retainer will need to be made to take account of the new shape of the front teeth.

The most common types of veneers are ceramic veneers, composite veneers, and composite bonded veneers. Ceramic veneers are considered the gold standard; however, they are the most expensive.
