Digital scan
We take a scan of your teeth in order to create a digital form.
Tray Fitting
Using the digital form, we then make and fit bleaching trays for your teeth.
Bleaching
You then wear the trays with a bleaching solution for 10-14 days. Et voilà, a new white smile!
There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.
We’re proud to offer a whitening system with custom molded trays to allow for the best possible results.
Once we have molded your custom trays, we will provide you with a whitening kit to take home with you. You will then use the kit for 30 minutes twice a day for 10-14 days, wearing your custom trays with a whitening gel.
Tooth whitening can be a very effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface.
There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.
Your teeth can also be stained on the surface by food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth.
Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or by tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains.
Professional bleaching is a common method of tooth whitening. Our cosmetic team will be able to tell you if you are suitable. Most people are!
To get a nice result will take two weeks, wearing a special tray which incorporates the whitening gel for 30 minutes twice a day.
The effects of whitening are thought to last up to three years. However, this will vary from person to person. The effect is less likely to last as long if you smoke or eat or drink products that can stain your teeth. This can be easily managed however with an occasional “top up”.
Tooth whitening can only lighten your existing tooth colour. Also, it only works on natural teeth. It will not work on any types of ‘false’ teeth or tooth covering such as composite bonding, dentures, crowns or veneers.
Composite Bonding. The application of a film of white composite over the front surface of the teeth to create the illusion of symmetry of a broad wide smile.
It’s difficult to answer this question as it depends on what you eat and drink. Lots of coffee in red wine will darken teeth quickly. We advise that you top up the whitening just for one or two sessions at home every 3-4 months to maintain the “wow factor”.
