Dental crowns are a great option if you have damaged or broken any of your natural teeth. We offer E-max and Zirconia crowns and bridging at Smiles and Smiles. Zirconia crowns are the more traditional of the two options, and they can be very thin and lightweight, without compromising strength.
Zirconia crowns and bridges are made and applied without using any metal but still remain a strong and long-lasting choice, and they are unlikely to chip and break.
Both types of crown will require some drilling and removal of broken or dead teeth, however, zirconia crowns are slightly less invasive. Both options can also be matched to your teeth to give you a natural looking smile, and can also be applied alongside other dental work, such as composite bonding and teeth whitening.
Complete smile transformations can include gum contouring.
Gum contouring is the process by which excess gum tissue is removed to give you your perfect smile and is usually incorporated with another treatment as part of a full smile transformation, such as composite bonding, veneers or crowns. Gum contouring is typically a self-elected cosmetic procedure and is carried out by a highly skilled dentist.
Bridges are a series of linked crowns in which teeth adjacent to a gap are used to support the replacement tooth sitting in the gap. The adjacent teeth are called abutments and the replacement tooth is called the pontic. The pontic sits on the gum, but not in the gum!
Bridges are often offered as an option alongside a single tooth implant for example – a bridge requires crowns to be placed on the teeth either side of the gap much of the time.
