Frequently Asked Questions

The effects of whitening can last several years. However, this will vary from person to person and their lifestyle and habits. Following the list above is a great place to start. If you do smoke or consume foods and drinks that are known to stain your teeth, your whitening will last only a very short period of time.

Any discolouration in the future can be easily managed however with an occasional ‘top up’. It is unlikely you will need the same level of colour lifting as your first treatment.

Professional teeth whitening is totally safe and does not affect the enamel on your teeth. Whitening does, however, make your teeth slightly more porous and sensitive during the 10-14 day treatment window so we recommend taking extra precautions during this time.

To achieve the best results from your teeth whitening treatment, it’s essential to avoid the following items during and immediately after the process:

  • Turmeric-based foods and drinks
  • Darkly colored fruits and vegetables
  • Fruit juices
  • Tea (including fruit teas) and coffee
  • Red wine
  • Beer
  • Smoking and vaping

Consider reducing your consumption of these items to prolong your whitening results. Additionally, maintaining good oral hygiene practices—such as brushing twice daily, using mouthwash, and flossing—will help minimize staining and tartar buildup. With proper care, your whitening results can last for 2-3 years, depending on how well you maintain your oral health.

We recommend checking with your doctor or general practitioner before making a teeth whitening consultation if you are pregnant or think you might be.

Teeth whitening is a possibility for nearly everyone! As long as you are over the age of 18, have a good standard of oral hygiene and do not have veneers, composite bonding, crowns or dentures.
